The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Alicante de Malaga, Alicante Encarnado, Alicante Rosa, Alicante Vermelho, Malvasía Portalegre, Malvoisie Espagnole and Uva Rosada. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2015, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x unknown father variety. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). A direct descendant is the Malvasia Trigueira variety. The pink berry vine is used for pressing and table grape. It is cultivated in the Galicia region. In 2016, only 0.1 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
