Lüttmer

Producer description of "Winzerei Lüttmer"

The winery is situated in the municipality of Querfurt-Vitzenburg (Neuenburg Castle area) in the German wine-growing region of Saale-Unstrut. It was founded in 2008 by Klaus Lüttmer, who came to the industry from a different background, and was ‘built from scratch’. The vineyards had to be established from scratch on the Vitzenburg Schloßberg. Following several relocations of the cellar, the winery’s headquarters have now been based in the municipality of Vitzenburg since the 2012 vintage.

Vineyards & Grape Varieties

The vineyards cover just under two hectares of vineyard area in the single-vineyard sites of Nüssenberg (Weischütz) and Schloßberg (Vitzenburg). They are planted with the white wine variety Riesling, as well as the red wine varieties Frühburgunder, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Cabernet Franc. Initial trials with biodynamic viticulture practices are being carried out on the Vitzenburg Schloßberg. One of the quality criteria is significantly reduced yields.
