This white grape variety is a new cross between Italia x Angelo Longo. Synonyms or breeding numbers are I. P. 711 and Pirovano 711. The cross was made in 1953 in Italy at the research centre in Rome by the breeder Alberto Pirovano (1884-1973). Latina is also a synonym for the grape variety Coda di Cavallo Bianca. The variety is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
