The white grape variety is a new variety between Bicane x Muscat d'Hamburg. Synonyms are Doña Sofia, Idéal, Iri Daneli Ak Uezuem, Italia Bianca, Italia Blanche, Italian Muscat, Italia White, Italija Bijela, Moscatel Italia, Moscatel Italiano, Moschato Rozaki, Muscat d'Italie, Pirovano 65 and Uva Italia. The cross was made in 1911 at the Research Centre in Rome by the breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). In Brazil there are three somatic mutations with other berry colours called Benitaka, Italia Rubi (Italia Red, Italia Rossa, Red Italia, Rubi) found near São Paulo and Ruby Okuyama. The Italia variety was a crossing partner of the new varieties Augusta (2), Conegliano varieties, Jumbo, Latina and Olimpia.
