The winery is located in the municipality of Aesch in the Swiss canton of Basle Country. It was founded in the 1970s by Kurt and Josy Nussbaumer and taken over by Antoine and Irene Kaufmann in 2017. Antoine Kaufmann gained his first experience in viticulture in Veneto, Australia, California's Napa Valley and the Haut-Médoc (Bordeaux). At the beginning of the 1990s, he completed a doctorate in oenology and viticulture at the University of Applied Sciences in Changins. For many years he managed the organic vineyard Château Duvivier, which belongs to Delinat. Irene Kaufmann attended the sommelier training programme at the Université du Vin in Suze-la-Rousse in the Rhône Valley in 1997. The new winery name is derived from the domicile at Klusstrasse 177 and was the final step from "Domaine Nussbaumer" to the "Klus 177" winery.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
