Canton (also Baselbiet) with the capital Liestal in the north-west of Switzerland. The widely scattered vineyards cover 80 hectares and belong to the wine region of German-speaking Switzerland. The predominant red wine variety is Pinot Noir, with small quantities of Müller-Thurgau (here Riesling x Sylvaner) and Chasselas. A well-known producer is the Domaine Nussbaumer in the municipality of Aesch.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
