The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Jaeger 43 x Herbemont. It was named after the Indian tribe in the US state of Colorado. There are genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis cinerea, Vitis lincecumii and probably also Vitis vinifera. Incidentally, the Longworth variety created by the breeder Hermann Jaeger (1844-1895) was also created with the same parents. The hybrid was crossed in 1898 in the USA by the botanist Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913). No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
