The red grape variety is an interspecific new breed between Jaeger 43 x Herbemont. It was named after the Native American tribe in the US state of Colorado. It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis cinerea, Vitis lincecumii, and presumably also Vitis vinifera. With the same parents, by the way, the variety Longworth created by the breeder Hermann Jaeger Hermann (1844-1895) also originated. The crossing of the hybrids took place in 1898 in the USA by the botanist Thomas Volney Munson Thomas Volney (1843-1913). In 2016, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson Kym).
