Heinz Franz-Josef

The winery is located in the municipality of Bingen-Dromersheim (Bingen area) in the German wine growing region of Rheinhessen. It is managed by Franz-Josef and Bettina Heinz. Since the 2003 vintage, son Oliver has been responsible for the wine development. The vineyards comprise 10.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual sites Honigberg, Klosterweg and Mainzerweg (Dromersheim), as well as Bubenstück and Schwarzenberg (Bingen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Chardonnay,Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Müller-Thurgau, Huxelrebe, Scheurebe and Kerner as well as the red wine varieties Dornfelder, Blauer Portugieser and Frühburgunder. The main variety Riesling, which accounts for a quarter of the vineyard area, is also produced in the Riesling Hochgewächs quality category. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also pressed.
