single vineyard in the municipality of Piesport ( Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine-growing region. It is located directly adjacent to Piesport in the centre of the single vineyard Goldtröpfchen vineyard. The south-facing vineyard at 120 to 150 metres above sea level with a slope of 30 to 70% covers five hectares of vines. The stony, deep, weathered clay-slate soil with a high proportion of fine earth is interspersed with quartz.
The extensive wooded areas above the steep vineyards ensure an excellent water balance. In the centre is a restored large wine press dating back to Roman times, which is used every year during a wine festival. It is mainly Riesling that is cultivated here. The wineries Hain Kurt, Haart Johann, Haart Reinhold, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, Reuscher-Haart and Später-Veit, for example, have shares in the vineyards.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
