The winery is located in the municipality of Piesport in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The traditional family has been growing grapes here since 1337. The Reinhold Haart vineyard was created in the early 1920s by dividing the inheritance of the large Josef Haart vineyard among the seven siblings. Josef Haart's vineyards were marked with termpoles (stakes at each end of the vineyard) coloured yellow at the top. After the division of the inheritance, each child was given an additional colour to mark their inherited vineyards. Haart Reinhold got yellow-red, Haart Johann yellow-blue and so on. Today, the farm is run by Edith and Theo Haart, who are assisted by their son Johannes. The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares in the single vineyard sites Domherr, Goldtröpfchen, Grafenberg and in the sole ownership Kreuzwingert (Piesport), as well as Ohligsberg (Wintrich). They are 100% planted with Riesling. Great attention is paid to careful vineyard management, defoliation of the grape zone and thinning out with a resulting reduced yield averaging 50 hl/ha. The wines are fermented cool and slowly with natural yeasts. The aim is to produce fruity-sweet wines with a potential to age and mature over decades. The winery is a member of the VDP.
