The winery is located in the old centre of the municipality of Piesport (Bernkastel area) directly on the Moselle in the German Moselle wine-growing region. The family's wine-growing tradition dates back to the 17th century. In 1988, the business was taken over by Gernot Hain. The hotel "Piesporter Goldtröpfchen" is attached. The vineyards cover almost six hectares in the Domherr, Goldtröpfchen and Falkenberg sites. They are planted with 85% Riesling, the rest with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau and Bacchus. The vineyards are consistently cultivated according to the rules of integrated viticulture with, for example, permanent cover crop and, as far as possible, no herbicides. The wines are matured in vaulted cellars cut out of the slate rock, which are over 200 years old. Most of the wines are matured in stainless steel, some in wooden barrels and the Pinot Noir in barrique. While the sweet wines ferment spontaneously, the dry wines are fermented with pure yeasts.
