The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Cabernet Sauvignon x Cynthiana (Norton). The part of the name "Crimson" (dark red, blood red, purple, carmine) refers to the colour of the wine. It contains genes of Vitis aestivalis x Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in the USA in 2001 by Lucian W. Dressel. In 2016, 1.3 hectares of vineyards were recorded in the US state of Kentucky (statistics Kym Anderson).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
