Clüsserath-Eifel

The winery is located in the municipality of Trittenheim (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine region. The ancestors of today's estate owner Gerhard Eifel started to cultivate vines as early as 1760. Opposite the winery a hotel with a restaurant is operated. In order to avoid confusion with the name Clüsserath, which is common on the Mosel, the bottle label has included the designation "Galerie Riesling" since 1993. The vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards in the sites Bruderschaft (Klüsserath), Laurentiuslay (Leiwen), Rosengärtchen (Neumagen), Altärchen and Apotheke (Trittenheim). They are exclusively planted with Riesling, of which more than three hectares are in steep and escarpment sites. The vines are traditionally cultivated in the Moselpfahlerziehungs-System(single pole cultivation). In the core area of the Lage Apotheke called "Fährfels", some plots are cultivated with Riesling vines with true roots, which were planted as early as 1900. Among other things, the flagship of the house "Eminence" grows here. The wines are aged exclusively in stainless steel tanks with a volume of 280 to 3000 litres with the aim of producing wines with a strong emphasis on the terroir. About 25,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and marc brandies are also produced.
