Christmas wine

Term previously used in Austria to describe a wine whose grapes were harvested on 24 December (Christmas Eve). However, it has no meaning in terms of wine law; the name is no longer mentioned in the current Designation Ordinance. Naturally, it was mostly an Eiswein or a Trockenbeerenauslese. Similar wines are Dreikönigswein, Leopoldiwein, Martiniwein, Nikolowein, Stefaniwein and the Christmas wine, which is identical in terms of harvest date. See also under special wines.
