Epiphany wine

A term used in Germany and Austria for a wine whose grapes were harvested on 6 January (Epiphany). Naturally, this is usually an ice wine or a Trockenbeerenauslese. In Austria, Dreikönigswein or Dreikönigslese is an official wine-legal designation. It may be used here if the harvest date is noted on the label. In Alsace, there is a traditional straw wine pressed on 6 January. Similar wines are Christwein, Leopoldiwein, Martiniwein, Nikolowein, Stefaniwein and Weihnachtswein.
