Martini wine

Term used in Germany and Austria for a wine whose grapes were harvested on 11 November, Martini (St. Martin's Day). The day is named after the wine saint Martin of Tours (316-397). Naturally, this is usually a very late-harvested Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese. In Austria, Martiniwein or Martinilese is a designation defined by wine law. It may be used here if the harvest date is noted on the label. Similar wines are Christwein, Dreikönigswein, Leopoldiwein, Nikolowein, Stefaniwein and Weihnachtswein.
