The white grape variety originates from France. The more than 120 synonyms indicate a great age. Some of them are Barbarossa Précoce, Chasselas di Falloux, Chasselas Piros, Chasselas Rose Jalabert, Chasselas Fendant Rouge, Chasselas Red, Chasselas Rosa, Chasselas Rosa Reale, Chasselas Rose d'Alsace, Chasselas Rose du Po, Chasselas Rosso, Chasselas Royal Rose, Chrupka Červená, Junker Rot, Plemenka Grasena, Plemenka Kraljevska, Ranka, Rdeča Žlahtnina, Red Lady's Grape, Red Chasselas, Red Schönedel, Red Silberling, Shasla Rozovaya and Žlahtnina Rdeča. It is a somatic mutation with reddish berry colour of the white variety Chasselas. The variety was a crossing partner of the new varieties Angelo Pirovano and Breslava.
