A description of a wine in the context of a vineyard evaluation and wine appeal for (overly) pronounced, often unpleasant characteristics. The impressions are perceived in different ways; these are gustatory (taste), olfactory (smell) and haptic or trigeminal (sense of touch). These sensations often occur in combination. The many terms cannot be clearly categorised and often apply to several components:

Alcohol content - see alcoholic, alcohol-rich, brandy, burning
Acidity - see acetic, edgy, sour, acidic
Pungency, pain - see warm, hot, peppery and spicy
Sweetness - see sweet, sweetish and tart
Tannins - see astringent and bitter (often together)

This means at least a lack of quality and, if too pronounced, a wine defect. A milder expression of aggressive, so to speak, is intrusive.
