Denotation for a wine from mostly (85%) the same vintage. The criterion is the vintage year of the grapes from which the wine was made. For sparkling wines and dessert wines, blending of different vintages is the most common method. Many champagne, sparkling wine, port and sherry houses also produce vintage wines, which are only produced in particularly good years. In the case of a Millésime (vintage champagne), the regulations of the CIVC responsible in Champagne require that it must be 100%. For Port, Sherry and Madeira, vintage wines are rather rare and are then called Vintage. In France, the code "SA" on a label indicates that it is not a vintage wine (sans année = without year).
