The red grape variety is an open-pollinated seedling of the Concord variety. Synonyms or accession numbers are A 1335 and Arkansas 1335. Accordingly, the father variety is unknown. It contains genes of Vitis labrusca and possibly Vitis vinifera. The hybrid vine was selected at the University of Arkansas in the USA in 1971. The vine is resistant to drought and heat (drought) as well as to fungal diseases in general. It is mainly used in the south of the USA for the production of grape juice.
