The white grape variety comes from Greece. Synonyms are Prekiadi, Prekna, Preknadi, Preknari, Preknari Lefko, Prekniariko and Prekno. The identity is not yet clear, because the DNA profile in the Greek Vitis database is identical to the Chasselas variety, while the morphological description in the same database is totally different. The medium to late ripening vine is susceptible to botrytis but resistant to drought. It produces aromatic, alcoholic but rather low-acid white wines. The variety is cultivated in smaller quantities in the Greek regions of Macedonia and Thessaly
