Priknadi

The white grape variety originates from Greece. Synonyms are Prekiadi, Prekna, Preknadi, Preknari, Preknari Lefko, Prekniariko and Prekno. The identity is not yet clear, because the DNA profile in the Greek Vitis database is identical to the variety Chasselas, while the morphological description in the same database is totally different. The medium to late ripening vine is susceptible to botrytis, but resistant to drought or dryness. It produces aromatic white wines, rich in alcohol but rather low in acidity. The variety is grown in smaller quantities in the Greek regions of Macedonia and Thessaly. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
