The red grape variety (also Petrokoritho) comes from Greece from the island of Corfu. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. There is also a white-berried mutation called Petrokoritho Lefko. This late-ripening vine is relatively resistant to disease. It yields white wines with high acidity and moderate alcohol content. The variety is cultivated in small stocks on Corfu (Kérkyra), as well as on Peloponnese and in central Greece on Euboea. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
