In the case of a new variety of vine varieties, the parents are indicated in the form "New variety = parent variety x father variety". Father variety is the second named grape variety, for example "Müller-Thurgau = Riesling (mother) x Madeleine Royale (father)". As a rule, the characteristics of the mother variety prevail.
