A term (also shaggy) for the shape of the arrangement of the berries, which is a characteristic morphological feature of a bunch of grapes and table grape in addition to the shape of the bunch (shouldered or unshouldered). The berries are loosely arranged so that there is more or less space between them, in contrast to clusters with dense berries. This can be an advantage in that more sunlight reaches the individual berries, which has a positive effect on ripening, and there is less risk of fungal diseases due to better draining and drying after rainfall. Certain grape varieties are naturally loose-berried. However, this can also be caused by unfertilised berries during flowering and coulure.
