The white grape variety originates from Italy. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Doux d'Henry x Avarengo. It must not be confused with other Lacrima varieties due to some of the same synonyms or morphological similarities. No stocks were reported in 2016; however, see Lacrima Christi (Kym Anderson statistics).
