single vineyard in the municipality of Rödelsee (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The name is reminiscent of the noble family of the Küchenmeister von Nortenberg, who were resident in Rödelsee in the 14th century. The vineyards, which face west-northwest, west and southwest at an altitude of 250 to 360 metres above sea level with a slope of 10 to 35%, are located on the Schwanberg, the western foothills of the Steigerwald. They cover 67 hectares of vineyards on calcareous clay marl stone. The upper slope consists of easily heated, calcareous slate platelets mixed with stony weathering material of reed sandstone and dolomite. The site is protected from winds by the hilltop of the Schwanberg. The white wine varieties Silvaner and Riesling are cultivated here. The wineries Brennfleck, Hemberger Roland, Ilmbacher Hof, Juliusspital, Ruck Johann, Weigand, Weinmanufaktur 3 Zeilen and Weltner Paul, for example, have shares in the site.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
