single vineyard in the municipality of Lauf (Ortenau area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The south-west to south-facing vineyard at 220 to 270 metres above sea level with a slope of 40 to 60% covers almost four hectares of vines on granite weathered and red sandstone soil. It is protected from the north winds by a forest. Pinot Noir ( Spätburgunder) and Pinot Gris ( Grauburgunder) are cultivated here. The tenant is Weingut Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
