single vineyard in the municipality of Bechtheim (Wonnegau) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The south-facing vineyards with 10 to 20% slopes cover 80 hectares of vineyards. The soils consist of heavy loess loams, limestone marl and strongly sandy to clayey loams. The core area, where mainly Riesling is cultivated, is considered privileged. The wineries Becker Gernot, Dreissigacker, Erbeldinger, Groh Heinrich, May Karl, Ökonomierat Johann Geil I. Erben, Schmitt Daniel, and Weinerhof Johann Geil I. Erben have shares in the site. Erben, Schmitt Daniel and Weinreich.
In Rheinhessen, there is another single vineyard called Geyersberg (with a "y") in the municipality of Gau-Weinheim, as well as two single vineyards called Geiersberg (with an "i") in the two municipalities of Armsheim-Heßloch and Dittelsheim.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
