Folle Américaine

The white grape variety (also Castel 3540) is an interspecific new variety between (Rupestris x Othello) x Herbemont d'Aurelles(Herbemont). It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Pierre Castel. It is used as a wine grape and rootstock. In 2016 no stocks were reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
