Traditional white wine cuvée from Alsace, which belongs to the group of wines in the Alsace appellation. The name means "noble blend" and is derived from "Zwicken" (cutting off parts). The wine is also marketed under the French name "Gentil" (kind, nice). It is blended from the classic Alsatian varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, but also Auxerrois, Sylvaner and Chasselas. The "Zwicker" version, which used to be classified as its own AOC, has long been abandoned. The traditional wine is no longer of great importance today.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
