Name for a wine brand originally developed by the Italian producer Casa Vinicola Carlo Botter, a large winery in northern Italy founded in 1928, which still owns a winery called Doppio Passo in Apulia in southern Italy. The protected brand name Doppio passo ® goes back to the sport of football and means "double pass" It is a metaphor for a particularly successful working cooperation in the sense of teamwork, as practised by the married couple Carlo and Maria Botter. They started with just one red wine from the Primitivo variety (Tribidrag) and have since developed into a wine line with rosé and white wines as well as a Prosecco.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
