The vineyard is located in the municipality of Ampuis on the "Le Vallin" plateau on the northern Rhône. On clear days, you can see Mont Blanc from here. It was founded in the early 1950s by Joseph Jamet. The family business was then taken over in 1976 by his son of Jean-Paul Jamet, who started bottling. He is assisted by his wife Corinne and his son Loïc. The steep terraced vineyards known as "chayets" cover seven hectares of vines on granite-interspersed slate soils, divided into 25 plots. The red wine variety Syrah is cultivated almost exclusively. The product range includes AOC wines Condrieu, Côtes du Rhône and Côte Rôtie, as well as IGP Collines Rhôdaniennes. The destemmed berries undergo a long spontaneous maceration in stainless steel tanks using the vineyard's own natural yeasts and those from the winery. Malolactic fermentation and ageing take place in one-fifth new oak barrels of different sizes. The wine is then bottled without filtration.
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
