The winery is located between the communes of Saint-Jean-de-Fos and Montpeyroux in the Département of Hérault in the French wine region of Languedoc. The name is derived from two huge plane trees (see picture below). The property also includes a well, some almond and 33 olive trees and a small wood. The farm was founded in 2009 by Christian Spingler from Wahl-Bielefeld, who comes from a wine village in Württemberg. His love for the French south and numerous meetings and conversations with winegrowers in the region led to this decision. The oenologist Jean Natoli (Laboratoire Natoli & Associés) acts as consultant. The first vintage was harvested in 2010 and the vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards on clay and limestone soils at the foot of the Causse du Larzac, the karstified southern foothills of the Massif Central. They are planted with the white Grenache Blanc (Garnacha Blanca) and the red Grenache Noir (Garnacha Tinta), Carignan Noir (Mazuelo), Cinsault (Cinsaut), Syrah and Mourvèdre (Monastrell).
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
