Term (lat. gradus = step) for the unit of measurement as a stage or gradation of the more or less strong presence of a property, condition or strength. In viticulture it has a meaning for:

Alcohol content
Humidity
Must weight - expressed in Brix, KMW, NM, Oechsle
Inclination (slope) - angle (360th part of the full angle) - see also under steepest vineyard
Acids - acidity
Temperature (Celsius, Fahrenheit etc.)
Viscosity (viscosity of liquids)
Sugar content - degree of sweetness
