The regional appellation applies to Crémant (sparkling wine produced according to the Champagne method) in the French wine-growing region of Bordeaux. It can be produced in the entire region, the grapes must come from here. The designation was introduced in 1990 and replaced the AOC designation Bordeaux Mousseux, which was then still valid until 1995. For the two versions Blanc de blancs and Blanc de noirs, the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Colombard, Malbec (Cot), Merlot, Muscadelle, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano Toscano) are permitted. For rosé, these are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
