The wine estate in Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux) was merged with Château Grand Corbin in 2012. Five closely-spaced estates with the Corbin part of the name once belonged to a single property whose origins date back to the 15th century. According to legend, the area bordering Pomerol once belonged to Edward of Woodstock (1330-1376), Prince of Wales and known as the "Black Prince". The vineyards comprised six hectares of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The red wine was matured for 12 to 14 months in barriques, half of which were new. It was classified as a Grand Cru Classé in 2006.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
