The "Caves du Château d'Auvernier" winery is located in the municipality of Auvernier in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. It has been family-owned since 1603. The castle, which lives up to its name, was built back in 1559. Today, the estate is managed by Thierry Grosjean. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vines, a further 32 hectares are leased and grapes are purchased from around 15 hectares. The flagship of the estate is "Neuchâtel Blanc"(Chasselas), which accounts for around 40% of production. Other premium wines include an Oeil de perdrix (rosé made from Pinot Noir), red wines made from Pinot Noir (with and without barrique), as well as white wines made from Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. In years with favourable weather conditions, a sweet wine is also made from Pinot Gris.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
