The vineyard is located near the municipality of Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). An ancestor of the long-time owner family Reiffers received the estate at the beginning of the 18th century from the Sun King Louis XIV (1638-1715) as a gift for services rendered in various campaigns. In 2013, the estate was sold by Sophie Fourcade-Reiffers to the Cuvalier family. In the early 2000s, the estate switched to organic viticulture. The estate was reclassified as a Grand Cru Classé in 2012 (after being downgraded). The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vines with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The long-lasting red wine matures for up to 18 months in 50% new barriques.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
