The red grape variety (also Challenger) is an interspecific new variety between Concord x Royal Muscadine (Chasselas Blanc). It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1860 in the USA by the private breeder Archer Moore. It is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
