The "Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft" is an umbrella organisation of producers, processors and traders of organic food in Germany. It was founded in 2002 with its headquarters in Berlin as the successor organisation of AGÖL (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Ökologischer Landbau). Its members are growers' associations and associations of traders and processors:
Its main task is public relations work on the topic of organic food production and the promotion of the image of organic food in society. BÖLW is also active in the monitoring committee of the Federal Organic Farming Programme and is a shareholder in ÖPZ GmbH, which administers the German organic label. Membership exists in IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements), where the group of German-speaking IFOAM members is coordinated.
