The association Fair and Green e.V. was founded in November 2013 with the aim of becoming a seal for sustainable viticulture. The practical relevance is demonstrated by the fact that renowned winegrowers were already involved when the association was founded: Clemens Busch (Weingut Busch Clemens), Reinhard Löwenstein (Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein), Nik Weis (WG Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof) and Philipp Kuhn (WG Kuhn Philipp). The further development of the sustainability standard is supported by an advisory board of the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences.
