Wineries Wagram

The winegrowers' association "Weingüter Collegium Wagram" in the wine-growing region of Wagram(Lower Austria) was founded at the end of 2001. However, it operates under the name "Weingüter Wagram". The chairman is Franz Leth from the winery of the same name in the municipality of Fels am Wagram. The main goal is to revitalise the Wagram region as an association at a high level within a short period of time and to live the characteristic of the up-and-coming wineries. Through constant exchange within the group, the winegrowers want to further improve the quality of their wines and thus stay on the ball of all innovations in the wine sector. The special leading variety of this area around the Wagram is Grüner Veltliner. The climate and soil, which are ideally suited for this grape variety, guarantee optimal ripeness and growth. The Wagram wineries aim to give this grape variety in particular an independent profile that can hold its own in the diverse Austrian Veltliner landscape.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
