In German usage, formerly common (but by no means negative) term for the process or result of blending several wines from different grape varieties, vintages or sites. In recent years, however, the term cuvée has become established in Austria and Germany (see there the detailed description on this subject). The blending cross (blend calculation) is used to precisely carry out blends with the desired result. See also under Assemblage, Gemischter Satz, varietal purity and vinification.
