The winery is located in the municipality of Straß im Straßertale in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. The traditional family business has been in existence since 1770 and has been run by Heinz Weixelbaum, the third generation of the family, since 2000. According to his guiding principle, he wants to produce wines " that he himself loves to drink and watch others enjoy." The vineyards cover 18 hectares in the Absdorfer, Brunngasse, Gaisberg, Gautscher, Hasel, Sandgrube, Stangl and Wechselberg vineyards. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Roter Veltliner and Chardonnay, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Blauer Portugieser. Great importance is attached to intensive foliage work, gentle pressing and degumming. The white wines are fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The red wines are traditionally fermented in vats on the mash. Clarification and ageing are carried out traditionally in oak and acacia barrels or in steel tanks, depending on the variety. The premium wines include various Rieslings and Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC.
