Wechselberg

Reed or vineyard site in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal, which extends over the two municipalities of Zöbing (cadastral municipality of Langenlois) and Straß im Straßertale. The continuation of the Wechselberg is the Stangl vineyard. The vineyards, which are oriented to the south (in the form of a cauldron in the Strasser part), southwest and partly also to the north, consist in the upper part of slate weathered soils with loess and clay overlay. The lower part consists of highly calcareous loess and brown soils. Due to the altitude of the Wechselberg, a special microclimate prevails here. A gentle breeze cools the hot summer air during the nights, which has a very positive effect on the development of aromas in the grapes. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, as well as Early red Veltliner andPinot Blanc. Shares in the reed are held, for example, by the Allram, Arndorfer, Cobaneshof Schneider, Eichinger Birgit, Grillmaier, Retzl Erwin, Topf Johann, Weixelbaum Heinz and Zottlöderer vineyards.
