Wehlener Sonnenuhr

Sonnenuhr

Popular single-vineyard designation in the German Moselle wine-growing region, where it occurs six times in the municipalities of Brauneberg, Maring-Noviand, Neumagen, Pommern, Wehlen and Zeltingen. The name refers in part to the sundials found in the vineyards and presumably also to the sunny conditions.

Neumagen-Piesport (Bernkastel)

This south-south-west facing vineyard is one of the smallest in Germany. It comprises just 0.38 hectares of vines, planted exclusively with the Riesling variety on stony, loamy clay-slate weathered soil. The site is monopolised by the Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt winery.

Pommern (Cochem Castle)

The south-facing vineyards with 15 to 60% slopes cover 19 hectares of vines. The stony, weathered greywacke soils with a high proportion of fine earth are mainly used to cultivate Riesling. The Fuchs Reinhold,...
