The "Vlassides Winery" is located in the small mountain village of Kilani in the Troodos region in the south of the island of Cyprus. The owner Sophocles Vlassides is considered one of Cyprus' star winemakers. He acquired his viticultural knowledge at the University of California in Davis. After studying oenology, he returned to Cyprus in 1998 and founded a small garage winery based on the Californian model. The premium wines include the Shiraz aged for six months in barriques, as well as a Bordeaux-style cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
