The white grape variety is a new cross between Müller-Thurgau x Siegerrebe. Synonyms or breeding numbers are Thekla grape, Thekla grape and Würzburg B 48-21-3. The cross was made in 1948 by the breeder Dr. Hans Breider (1908-2000) at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture in Würzburg. Incidentally, the same parents also produced the three new varieties Muscabona, Ortega and Tamara. The variety is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
