The white grape variety originates from Spain; synonyms are Sumoi Blanc and Sumoll Blanc. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2009, it is not a mutation of the red variety Sumoll, but an independent vine. However, the parentage is unknown. It produces mineral white wines with subtle acidity and a fruity aroma similar to a Chablis. The variety is grown in small quantities in the Penedès and Tarragona areas of Catalonia. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
