The red grape variety originates from the former Yugoslavia. Synonyms are Bracanin, Glavinuša Bracka, Oskorusica, Pavicic, Pavicicka, Pavicicka Loza, Soic, Soic Noir, Vbranjac and Vbranjac Veliki. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Plavac Mali x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see under molecular genetics. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
